Full Job Description

iGen Educational Academy ignites learning in children and enhances their 21st century skills — collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity — through project-based learning and digital learning in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators.

Our instructors are responsible for delivering our curriculum, creating an engaging learning environment and ensuring our i’Geners are living up to our mission- Discover. Create. Innovate., all while learning and applying computer languages to the real-world.

You don’t need to be a master in programming, but interest and enthusiasm are required!

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and delivers coding and robotics instructional materials to students.
  • Have knowledge of LEGO Education is preferred but not required, Curriculum and training provided.
  • Develop STEM learning activities and hands-on material for classes
  • Manage a classroom of up to 20 students
  • Use curriculum to instruct and direct children on the designing and building experience.
  • Have some programming experience
  • Have experience working with middle school age children.
  • Have availability to work from 1pm-4pm.
  • Clean equipment between uses. Take part in the daily clean-up of the program area.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students of all ages, interact appropriately with students in a variety of situations, appropriately model behavior and use positive behavior-management techniques – enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, good sportsmanship and self-control.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Have a degree or seeking a degree in education or STEM field – preferred
  • Experience with elementary school children
  • Experience or interest in LEGO robotics and/or STEM
  • Patient and reliable
  • Organizational and communication skills
  • Energetic and positive personality
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $30.00 per hour
